and, still on the communion theme, this is a poem I wrote on the subject 2 years ago. There is definitely a connecting thought ..
COMMUNION
My Christ has no dividing walls;
He is the Lord, and He is one.
But pain we spread between ourselves:
The broken body of the Son.
We lacerate the hearts of men
By the dark rage within our soul.
Yet, feeding on Christ’s brokenness,
We are re-woven to be whole.
His stripes our healing. At the cross,
Stripped by His love to see our sin,
We must embrace as broken men;
His mercy is the only thing.
Forgive, forebear and be remade
By boundless love as holy fire
Till all resentments wash away
And Jesus is our whole desire.
